Tweaking a favorite proven performer

Posted by  Str82u
Yahoo is a bit of a mystery so far. A new site appears in search results as if by magic while another established site that's been pushed aside and left unmanaged for too long appears to be holding strong one page ahead of it. Some of that can be explained by assosiation. The new site was designed page by page with an eye for doing well by SEO standards and for user retention. So what has made the older site appear so suddenly? Well, it's been a long time coming, with it's real start at Google, who lost it's love (it was a lovely love) about the time Yahoo became enamored with it. But for what? County inmate searches, traffic is what you're looking for, right? Well, through some of the tweaks mentioned on this site and others not recorded, pages that have gained popularity (and a few other websites) refer to the domain address with free people search as a phrase, which has climbed to and held steady on page 3 for that search term, #29 at this moment (The other site is #36).

A game plan is forming, with simple being the main objective:
In an ALT IMG tag, "Free public record, inmate search and people search." was rearranged to "Free people search, inmate search and public record."
Rearranged the meta tags a bit, cutting out about 8 unnecessary keywords.
Large block of bold text without keyphrase had the bold removed.

And that's enough for now, got to set the egg timer to see if a Yahoo page 2 hatches or not for the site. Follow up for this should be in the SERP category from here.

UPDATE: What started all this can be attributed to one of the domains hosted by Google AdSense that was mentioned in AdSense For Domains. The domain is #17 for the phrase free people search, yes, the same and it's all ads! No complaints for the boost and for getting attention for the other sites, almost wish some backlinks could get in there. Admittedly, there are several outdated links back to the domain, so that probably helps enough. The worst case scenario is that Yahoo or anyone else bans the site for being an advertisement.
